Pakmarkas gets extension of DPG symbol certification
In June 2020, an independent third-party audit approved our company’s right to continue using special labels with a DPG deposit label, designed for the German market only.
The results of the audit confirm that Pakmarkas:
- guarantees use and control of special DPG dye, designed for the German market only,
- uses only testing equipment from an authorised manufacturer to verify the conformity of the printed DPG mark with the requirements,
- guarantees high print quality of the DPG mark, so that the packaging collection machine scans it accurately and does not return it to the consumer.
In 2019, Pakmarkas became one of only a few European Union companies to gain DPG (Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH) certification and therefore the right to print labels with the DPG deposit symbol used for beverages produced in or imported into Germany. Certification audits are done annually.
What is a DPG symbol?
In order to meet the requirements of the beverage industry container return system, in 2005, at the initiative of the German Trade Association and the beverage industry, the DPG (Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH) was set up to oversee a container return system. For this purpose, a uniform packaging labelling standard was developed, which allows automatic scanning of disposable beverage packaging and collection in the system and facilitates the taking of a mandatory deposit.
