One of the key factors determining the durability of the mechanical equipment you use is quality lubricants. When the equipment is running, the temperature in the oil tanks rises and some of the air escapes through the breather. When the equipment is stopped, the temperature drops and air from outside is drawn through the breather back into the same tank. The problem with using standard breathers is that along with the air, small particles of moisture enter the tank and settle on the oil.

Eventually, the contaminated oil loses its essential properties and the surfaces of the moving parts begin to wear. Failure to replace such lubricants in a timely manner may result in equipment failure and shutdown of the production line. The US manufacturer Des-Case specializes in this area of oil pollution prevention.
